About the Authors

Rachel Biber Brewer, MD

Dr. Brewer received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and obtained her medical degree from the University of Missouri.  She completed her residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, and went on to complete her fellowship in sports medicine at Vanderbilt as well.  She works at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in Denver, Colorado. Her interests are endurance sports and injury prevention in kids, and she is an avid marathoner and triathlete herself. She also tries to keep up with her young daughter Syndey!






Heather Joyce, MD
Dr. Joyce obtained her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She completed her residency at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. She went on to work in a pediatric urgent care for Children's Mercy Hospital, then moved to St. Louis to be closer to family. She currently works at Mercy Children's Hospital in St. Louis as a Pediatric Hospitalist, both inpatient and in the pediatric ER. She is interested in every aspect of child health, from preventative medicine to the care of chronically ill children. She has a wonderful, supportive husband and two very busy boys.
